Abstract: | Application upgrades are a business necessity for enterprises, such as supporting new business processes or resolving application issues through patches. DBAs are required play a central role in the planning, testing and rollout of application upgrades with no loss in service levels. In this session, learn how you can accelerate application upgrade cycles automating the tracking and rollout of application changes in the database. To perform production-class testing, learn about data masking solutions that allow DBAs to share production data with application developers and testers without violating company confidentiality and privacy rules. Edition-based redefinition, a revolutionary new capability in Oracle Database 11g Release 2, will let developers write patch and upgrade scripts so that the DBA can change the application's database objects while it remains available for production use. Then, new application sessions can use the new application version at the same time as existing sessions use the old version. |
