Objectives: Overview of a commodity infrastructure (cost and benefits).
The implementation, maintenance and benefits of Real Application Clusters.
Leveraging the architecture of Oracle RAC to divide and conquer the workload – Dynamic provisioning.
Abstract: Grid architectures are gaining wide popularity in the industry as a cost effective means to develop scalable and agile infrastructures to provide dynamic provisioning of process capacity. This presentation provides practical, real world experience in designing and developing a commodity based grid infrastructure that utilizes Oracle Real Application Clusters as a key component of the architecture. The benefits of commoditization of the infrastructure are demonstrated through recent success stories within the intelligence community. Implementation of the infrastructure as well as the construction and maintenance of Oracle RAC are explored. Leveraging of the RAC architecture to scale the cluster and to divide workload among multiple instances is reviewed.
