Objectives: Learn new TDE features in Oracle 11g
Learn TDE basics
Review encryption basics used in TDE
Abstract: Two major improvements to TDE encryption were introduced in the Oracle 11g: Tablespace encryption and LOB encryption. Tablespace encryption allows creation of indexes in the encrypted tablespaces, so that indexes can be used for non-equality searches. The new LOB storage paradigm, SECUREFILE, amongst other features, allows LOBs to be encrypted. In the presentations we will demo the functioning of these new features, and will analyze its benefits, as well as it costs: increased storage and performance implications. We will discuss how these new features interact with other Oracle tools and options. We will also review some other Encryption improvements: in Data Guard, Grid Control, etc.
