Abstract: | For over 10 years, since its introduction in Oracle8, partitioning has been a very powerful tool for management and performance of Oracle databases. Each major release since that time has added additional capabilities and Oracle Database 11g is no exception. Several powerful options are now available which allow for almost unlimited flexibility in building and managing partitioning. This presentation will discuss the new partitioning features introduced in Oracle Database 11g including interval, virtual column-based, reference, system, and a range of additional composite partitioning options. Included will be partitioning-related enhancements to transportable tablespaces and the SQL Access Advisor added with this release. Examples will be shown along with recommendations for using the new capabilities. |
