Abstract: | So all 'on-the-other-side-of-the-pond' are also talking the SOX-speak? So what does it mean and why is it not spelled ? 'socks'? The Sarbanes-OXley Act was enacted by the US government in 2002 primarily in response to such corporate accounting scandals as Enron and WorldCom. Alluded to as 'Y2K without an end' or 'Y2K on steroids', this is rapidly touching upon all aspects of business functionality in corporate America as well as all around the world. While Projects Managers spearhead the effort for its implementation and compliance in businesses, the effects and audits certainly have long fingers. Even with all their power over the database, the DBA's are not immune to being affected by this. The session takes a quick tour on the basic terms and terminologies involved and their immediate implications to a typical USA/UK/European Oracle DBA's roles and responsibilities. |
