Objectives: Understand how to optimally configure Data Guard in a Linux RAC environment.
Learn how to troubleshoot and tune Data Guard.
Learn how to monitor Data Guard in a RAC environment.
Abstract: This session will discuss how to install, configure and troubleshoot Oracle Data Guard in an Oracle Real Application Cluster environment on Linux. Potential problems and pitfalls will be identified as well as time proven solutions. This discussion will include the latest in RAC hardware technologies, Data Guard configuration techniques, as well as monitoring and tuning the entire configuration with Enterprise Manager Grid Control.

The complexity of combining RAC, Data Guard and Grid Control can sometimes lead to inefficiencies and errors. The Data Guard configuration allows for many possibilities and configuration choices. Here we will provide detailed knowledge on how to most optimally configure this complex system.

This paper will cover Linux specific configuration issues; configuring RAC, configuring Data Guard and tuning. In addition, methods of monitoring Data Guard with both scripts and Enterprise Manager Grid Control will be presented.
