465: PL/SQL Application Frameworks for Custom Systems
Bill Coulam , Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Biography
Objectives: | Determine whether a PL/SQL application framework is needed. Determine what to put in a PL/SQL application framework and how best to build and deploy it. The nature of existing commercial and free PL/SQL libraries and frameworks. |
Abstract: | If your company is beginning to create, or already has, custom systems that use PL/SQL somewhere in the application stack, you probably need a PL/SQL application framework to modularize and standardize common functions. The presentation will briefly cover what an application framework/library is, how one determines what to put in it and how to build and deploy it to avoid common pitfalls. The presentation will also examine some of the present libraries and frameworks available commercially and through open source. Reference will be made to the author's freeware framework which has been used successfully at a number of past clients and employers. Attendees are encouraged to download, peruse, use and improve the framework. |
