Abstract: | This presentation deals with identifying areas in the Data Guard environment that are bottlenecks and opportunities for tuning for faster recovery, switchover and failover. This includes methods to identify these areas and obtain benchmarks using the AWR, SQL and other O/S utilities. After identification, changes that can be made to improve the processes at different levels including the hardware, O/S, Database, Log transfer process and the Oracle Net Architecture will be discussed. A case study of a production setup will be also be presented to highlight areas where changes were made and the benefit obtained. Additionally a list of best practices with items that should be avoided and things that should be implemented will also be shown. Improvements made to Data Guard in 10gr2 and 11g will also be highlighted. |
